Volvo C70 Service and Timing Belt Kit

This lovely Volvo C70 convertible came into our workshop to get a major service completed. The service was carried out according to the manufacturer’s specifications and log book schedule. This service includes replacing the engine oil and filter, air filter, cabin filter and brake fluid system flush fill and bleed.

Whilst also in our workshop, the vehicle required a replacement water pump and a new timing belt kit as due on the kilometres and time basis.

The replacement of the timing belt kit included: the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley and oil seals. Over time the tensioners, pulleys and idlers can wear out causing noise so are replaced at this time. A failure of 1 of these items to save money short term can cost a lot more long term. By replacing the kit and water pump at this time, we flush fill and bleed the cooling system at this time also.

Once reassembled, a final road test is carried out and then a final inspection of the engine before preparing the vehicle for client collection.

Volvo XC90 Engine Bay Squeaking Noise

We worked on a Volvo XC90 of a previous customers that had a squeaking noise coming from the engine bay.

Volvo-XC90-Wheels-Boot-Bumper-RamSpeed-1A test was completed in order to verify the exact part or component that was causing the noise. After the test drive we were able to isolate that the noise was coming from the belt tensioner. The remaining job was simple and only required the belt to be replaced. Another road test was done to ensure no other noises occurred.

Volvo XC90 Diagnostics

There was a Volvo XC90 in our workshop recently to diagnose an issue.

We looked into the vehicle which had an ABS warning light on. Testing the system revealed an error in the rear left wheel speed sensor. This error was cleared and the checking of the sensor showed all plug connections were ok. The error message returned so we replaced the sensor as required though the ABS warning light was still on. Further testing found the ABS unit to be causing the irregular signal and would need to be replaced.

Volvo XC90 Diagnostics

One of the recent vehicles in our workshop was a Volvo XC90 to diagnose some warning lights.

The engine light was on which required us to check and report the issue. We scanned the engine control and found 2 errors present, which were not able to be cleared. These faults were with the air mass and oxygen sensors which needed to be replaced.

Volvo XC90 Repairs and Service

Awhile back we had a Volvo XC90 in our workshop for a number of repairs including an engine swap and minor service.

For the vehicle upon diagnosis, it seemed like oil was not put in the car where it was last serviced. As a result of this the car slowed down and almost seized.

We performed a compression test on the spark plugs and changed the torn breather hose. It was found that cylinder 3 was failing compression. We then reset the adaption values and diagnosed the surging issues. After that we tested the engine with a vacuum gauge and found the surge at idle was caused by the low compression in cylinder 3.

We swapped the engine of the XC90 which included a transmission service, flush, fill and bleeding the cooling and brake systems. The radiator was blocked and full of oil sludge which we removed for extensive cleaning. We also replaced the left rear tail light assembly as required. After this we performed a minor A type service on the Volvo XC90.
