VW Golf R32- HMS Cat-back Exhaust System Installation

The owner of this Volkswagen Golf R32 purchased a top of the line exhaust system from HMS through RamSpeed Imports. Once the Cat-back exhaust system had arrived, the customer had brought their car into the RamSpeed Automotive workshop for the exhaust to be installed.

Cat-back refers to the portion of the exhaust system from the outlet of the catalytic converter to the final vent to open air. This generally includes the pipe from the converter to the muffler, the muffler, and the final length of pipe to open air.

Cat-back exhaust systems generally use larger diameter pipes than the stock system. The mufflers included in these kits are often glasspacks, to reduce back pressure.

It was a pleasure to work on this sleek Golf R32; our technician worked hard to ensure the end result was an absolute triumph.

VW Golf GTI – Service B and Brake Pads

The owner of this shiny black Golf GTI required a scheduled Service B on his car.

The Service B includes replacing oil filters, inspecting brakes, checking suspension points, drain and refill engine, check engine compartments for leaks and much more.  This GTI required new spark plugs and oil filters which were replaced successfully.

During the inspection, our technician found that both the front and rear brake pads, including the wear sensors, were worn and required replacement. As any driver would know, brake pads are a key brake part because they are the component that contacts and applies pressure and friction to a vehicle’s brake rotors. Though the role of brake pads in braking is pretty simple, the brake pads themselves are anything but.

It’s fair to say the owner of this well maintained Golf GTI was pleased when the car was picked up from the workshop.

When the vehicle was initially scanned it was found that there were combustion misfires in cylinders 4, 5 and 6 and a fuel pressure fault.

Upon first inspection of the vehicle, the technician removed the intake hoses so to check the management of the turbo and also removed the spark plugs to test the engines compression. The oil lever sensor was also faulty and required replacement.

The customer had also supplied their own fuel injectors, so we had removed the old ones and installed the new ones as requested. Fuel injectors require proper functioning as it is the engine’s fuel delivery system. An injector is a valve with electronic controls that receives signals from the engine control unit.

White testing and completing final checks on the vehicle, our technician found that the driver’s window switch buttons were loose, but still functioning properly. They also noticed that idle on the vehicle was rough and suggested the cause is due to worn-out camshaft actuators.

The vehicle required a pink slip which is a service carried out and completed by RamSpeed Automotive selected technicians.

Using our durable and trustworthy car diagnostic scanner, our technicians are better able to pinpoint faults and clear them accordingly. Initially, the door locking device required some attention, whereby 3 door actuators were not working correctly. This fault was cleared but requires more needed time for correction.  The customer has made a booking to return and fix this issue.

Some other areas of concern were that the vehicle would not register the time on the radio and that the dash was alarming the driver of the right indicator not working. These faults were cleared without hassles.

Although the customer is returning for some further inspections, the initial visit was successful.
