Alfa Romeo 156 Suspension Inspection

An Alfa Romeo 156 customer had come into our shop to get the front suspension inspected as it was not working according to specifications. We did a check over to report on our findings which also involved test drives.

The vehicle needed the O/S/F and N/S/F lower control arms with the caster rod and bush. We installed these components after notifying the customer of the results from our check over.

After this the rear switch was repaired but the front would require a new switch or cluster.

Alfa Romeo 156 ABS Light On

We worked on an Alfa Romeo 156 this week that had an ABS light on. A system check was done to identify the faults, clear and report on them.

This was all that was needed to remove the ABS light, after which we reinstalled the unit and cleared the fault codes. We noted that the lambda sensor had an open circuit and that the oxygen sensor wire had been damaged and bridged by someone else in the past which would need to be fixed.

Alfa Romeo 156 Internal Fuel Smell

We had looked into an Alfa Romeo 156 recently that had a fuel smell inside the vehicle. The Alfa was put on the hoist to inspect and we found that there was signs of leakage through the top of the tank.

Alfa-Romeo-156-Wheels-Bumper-Exhaust-RamSpeed-1We then removed the back seats to inspect the fuel pump which was cracked and caused the leak. Once this was replaced there was a final inspection to ensure no fuel was leaking.

Alfa Romeo 156 Service and Repairs

An Alfa Romeo 156 came into our workshop earlier this week to get a minor service done and some repairs.

The service was done first which involved replacing the oil and filter. This was done according to the log book schedule and current km on the car. When checking over the vehicle we noticed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The brake fluid was also adjusted as required.

Other repairs included replacing the battery and clearing the error codes and some panel repairs. The engine light on the dashboard was the final issue to look at. For this issue we scanned the vehicle and found the up and down stream oxygen sensors had present errors. These sensors were removed to inspect the catalytic converter which was ok. Measuring the oxygen sensors found an open circuit in both of them. These sensors were replaced as required and the error codes cleared. A road test was then completed without issue.

Alfa Romeo 156 Service, Door and Noise Repairs

Below is an Alfa Romeo 156 which was in the workshop to do a minor service, to look into the drivers side door handle and squeaking suspension noise.

The service was done first according to the log book schedule and current km on the vehicle. This involved replacing the oil and oil filter and a few globes as they were burnt out.

We then looked into the drivers side door handle which was not coming back to the resting position. The door trim was removed to check if the bowden cable was connected and not obstructed which was ok. Once we removed the handle from the trim we found the spring location was broken and a complete handle would be required. While working on this we inspected the door window switch block and found a loose switch which also needed to be replaced.

There was also a squeaking noise coming from the front left suspension which had to be looked at. The vehicle was put on the hoist to inspect and we found the front left lower control arm ball joints and bushes were worn out along with the upper control arm bushes. Once these were replaced the vehicle was test driven and no noise appeared.
